Four Generations ~ Journeying together toward deeper faith, justice and love for all

Feed My Starving Children

Four Wednesday evenings each year, we join together with local neighbors in packing boxes of food for our underfed neighbors in the global community at Feed My Starving Children. All are invited to join in our next intergenerational trip. Contact the church office for details (651-224-5809).

Dodge Nature Center Potluck Picnic

Each year, we celebrate the beginning of summer with an intergenerational potluck picnic at Dodge Nature Center.

Advent Workshop

On the second Sunday in Advent, we write Christmas greetings to homebound members and young adults away from home during Fair Trade Coffee Hour. Then members of our Children’s Ministry Team lead us in several creative Advent-themed stations. We include some of our creations in our longstanding tradition of cookie plates delivered to homebound members.

All-Church Camp

One weekend each August, members and friends of St. Paul's UCC attend an intergenerational weekend camp. We share in fellowship, worship, and fun activities with groups from other UCC churches in Minnesota. Our weekend includes peaceful vespers services, campfires, s'mores, and more.

Wolf Ridge Environmental Learning Center

In recent summers, adults, youth, and children from St. Paul’s UCC have enjoyed a wonderful summer camp at Wolf Ridge Environmental Learning Center in Finland, Minnesota. Wolf Ridge is a nationally respected center located on 2,000 acres overlooking Lake Superior. During this time we were immersed in nature exploration, cultural history, outdoor skills, team-building, and personal and spiritual growth.

Our Wolf Ridge naturalists, a splendid team of skilled first-class teachers, guided us through a wonderful outdoor learning experience. We observed wildlife and went on long and short hikes. We paddled a canoe so big that it held all of us! We felt like the Voyageurs who paddled similar canoes through northern Minnesota in the late 1700s. We performed a scientific lake study (Wolf Lake is in good environmental shape), learned about the raptors that make their home at Wolf Ridge and how the lumberjacks lived in the area in the early 1900s. We experienced how the Ojibwe people lived and traveled throughout the north at a recreated Ojibwe camp site. We stayed in comfortable dorm rooms and ate healthy and tasty meals in the large dining hall. Our days were filled with educational experiences and outdoor challenges, and our evenings included sitting around a campfire under the cathedral ceiling of starlight, closing with singing and prayer before bedtime.

St. Paul’s UCC is an Earthwise Congregation, which means we're committed to caring for God’s creation. Our Wolf Ridge summer camp deepened our appreciation for God’s creation and increased our passion for becoming better stewards of the earth. Thanks to an Ashley Grant from the Minnesota Conference of the United Church of Christ, we were able to make this affordable for everyone!
