Journey of Faith | Spiritual Practices as Sustenance for Justice Work

January 18, 2023 | Spiritual Practices as Sustenance for Justice Work

Justin Sabia-Tanis PhD., Assistant professor and director of the Social Transformation program at United Theological Seminary.

There are so many ways to make the world a more just and flourishing place and so much that the world needs. How do we know what each of us are called to do? In our time together, we will explore how we discern the work that is ours to do and what we should trust others to take up instead. The great theologian Howard Thurman said, “Don’t ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.” We’ll use his words as an invitation to talk about how our work for justice is a key part of building a life of meaning and spiritual depth. What makes us-and the world-come more fully alive?
