Sacred Sites Tour, Saturday October 22 (time TBA) The Land Acknowledgment Task Force invites you to a Sacred Sites Tour let by Rev. Jim Bear Jacobs (Mohican) of the MN Council of Churches. The locations are near the confluence of the Mississippi and Minnesota rivers, what the Dakota refer to as Bdote, or “meeting place of rivers,” and they include Fort Snelling State Park, the former Dakota Internment Camp (following the Dakota -- US War) and Pilot Knob Hill, a traditional burial ground. These tours offer an opportunity to learn about Minnesota history from a Native perspective through story-telling and experiencing the sites in silence, meditation, and reflection.
