Sacred Sites Tour with Jim Bear Jacobs
LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT TASK FORCE
Saturday, October 22 from 10:00 am - 2:00 pm
Join us for a tour of sacred and important locations in the stories of the Dakota people and Minnesota history. The tour will be led by Jim Bear Jacobs (Mohican) and/or Kelly Sherman Conroy (Oglala Lakota), of Healing Minnesota Stories. Sites are located around Bdote, the “meeting place of rivers,” where the Minnesota River flows into the Mississippi, and include Fort Snelling State Park, the Dakota Internment Camp established in the aftermath of the Dakota-U.S. War, and Pilot Knob Hill, a traditional burial ground. The tour includes storytelling and opportunities for meditation and reflection.
