Help Stock Our Share Shelf
“Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God.” - Hebrews 13:16
Have you noticed the small Share Shelf located by the church entrance off the parking lot? It provides food for neighbors who may need a little extra help. Anyone is welcome to take what they need.
We would love your help keeping it stocked! Because people using the Share Shelf have different circumstances, we are looking for both ready-to-eat foods and basic foods for people who have access to a kitchen.
Ready to Eat
Especially helpful for neighbors who may not have access to a kitchen, refrigerator, stove, or can opener:
Tuna or chicken pouches and pull-top cans
Pull-top soup, chili, stew, or canned pasta
Peanut butter or individual nut-butter packets
Beef or turkey sticks
Protein, breakfast, or granola bars
Nuts and trail mix
Peanut-butter crackers and other crackers
Fruit or applesauce cups and pouches
Dried fruit
Individual cereal boxes
Shelf-stable milk or juice
Bottled water
Take Home & Cook
Helpful staples for neighbors who have access to a kitchen:
Small bottles of cooking oil
Small bags of flour or sugar
Powdered or shelf-stable milk
Rice
Small containers of chicken, beef, or vegetable broth
Pasta and pasta sauce
Instant mashed potatoes
Oatmeal
“Just add water” pancake mix
Canned beans, vegetables, or fruit
Bouillon cubes or packets
Salt and basic seasonings
A Useful Extra
Consider donating an inexpensive manual can opener. Can openers placed on the Share Shelf are available for neighbors to take home and keep, just like the food.
A few things to remember when donating:
Please check the expiration or best-by date before bringing food to church. Do not donate food that is expired. Please also avoid opened or damaged packages and badly dented or bulging cans.
Small packages and easy-to-open containers are especially appreciated. They are easier to carry, fit better on our little shelf, and allow us to offer a greater variety of foods.
Our Share Shelf is a simple way to practice what Hebrews calls us to do: share what we have with one another.
Simply bring your donations to church and place them on the Share Shelf by the entrance off the parking lot.
Take what you need. Give what you can.
